The E111 Form is no longer valid.

Before leaving the UK you should obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) .

The EHIC is not to be used as a substitute for medical and travel insurance, but will entitle you to emergency medical treatment should it become necessary, the treatment will be  on the same terms as Bulgarian nationals.

The EHIC will not be cover for medical repatriation, on-going medical treatment or treatment of a non-urgent nature. 
 
 
The facilities of most Bulgarian hospitals are basic and old-fashioned compared to those you might expect in the UK. Though standards of medical care are acceptable but specialised equipment/treatment may not be available, and hospital staff are unlikely to speak English.
 
Before travelling seek medical advice to ensure that all appropriate vaccinations are up to date.
