Local Transport and Travel  Around Bulgaria

Most Bulgarian cities and larger towns have cheap and extensive public transport.  You will find regular bus services running between most major towns in the country.  You will also be able to Hire a Car and will find  several car-hire companies, including Hertz and Avis. 

Domestic Flights

Bulgaria does have domestic flights that make it is possible to fly between Sofia and the two major towns on the Black Sea coast, Varna and Bourgas.  When  travelling on a domestic air flight make sure you have your passport ready for inspection.

Taxis

In Bulgaria taxis are plentiful and also cheap by UK standards though not  some vehicles may not be in very good condition.  Taxis are normally metered, the yellow taxis is generally considered reliable.  You are advised to check the tariffs on the vehicle window before boarding as charges can vary considerably.

At Sofia airport you advised to  use a taxi from one of the two companies OK and Express which operate from  the official rank. 

At Varna Airport Stil Taxi  operates from the official rank

Bourgas Airport Srebrin Argirov - ORAK companies operate from the official rank.
